For me, meaningful and impactful research is defined by four qualities:
Intention: What drives the hypothesis formation? How are the populations and phenomena being studied involved, empowered, and benefited by the ultimate goal of the research? Are there guardrails and boundaries outlining what not to do? What kind of research culture do we want to cultivate
Rigor: This encompasses the approach to methodology, respectful data collection, balancing objectivity with positionality, critical reflection and interpretation of results, quality of publications, open access, and transparency.
Merit: Contributing to the field and area of research, balancing individual research with collaboration, mentoring the next generation of researchers, and ensuring contributions are acknowledged.
Impact: Determining who is benefiting and how the research impacts various stakeholders. Assessing the levels and abstractions of impact being addressed and identifying the mechanisms and strategies for dissemination.

Figure. My dissertation work brought together the foundations and methods needed to pursue these inter- and trans- disciplinary research queastions
My areas of research build on :
The Human-AI Interaction Ecosystem Framework,
The AI Identity Boundary Object model—which examines how identity shapes the creation, perception, and use of AI
The Higher Education AI Readiness (HEAIR) Framework
Universal AI Literacy Framework (Higher Education) that advocates a shift from techno-centric AI education to an interdisciplinary, socio-technical curriculum.
Collaborative Active Learning and Inclusivity (CALI) Framework
Some methodologies for an interdisciplinary approach to research that I've engaged in
